Recently, an intensive hackathon took place at the Sint Maartenskliniek as part of Scale-Up4Rehab. As a project partner, In4Care Living Lab was pleased to actively contribute to a day fully dedicated to learning in and from real healthcare practice.
A real-life challenge at the centre
Learning & Development students from HAN University of Applied Sciences worked throughout the day on a concrete and highly relevant question:
How do you support users and stakeholders in learning to work with hybrid and virtual rehabilitation solutions, such as Uptimise?
Starting from real care contexts, the teams explored motivation, feasibility and practical implementation. Their work was grounded in everyday clinical reality, with a strong focus on what truly works for professionals and patients alike.
Learning across disciplines
What made the hackathon especially valuable was the mix of perspectives. Insights from rehabilitation practice, education and even the gaming world came together, creating space for experimentation, feedback and movement. This hands-on approach allowed students to test ideas, reflect on usability and refine concepts in a short but intensive time frame.
It was inspiring to see how fresh perspectives and practical testing can help bridge the gap between innovation and everyday clinical use — exactly where meaningful impact is created.
Building workable healthcare together
We would like to thank the Sint Maartenskliniek for the excellent organisation, and all students, lecturers, speakers and jury members for their energy and commitment. Their contributions made this hackathon a real success.
This day clearly showed what Scale-Up4Rehab stands for: learning in and with practice, and working together to build healthcare innovation that remains workable and sustainable.
