XR4Rehab 2025: Connections, Innovations, and a Card Game

BLOG by Gert-Jan Brok (CEO at inMotion VR)

The Politecnico di Milano in the beautiful city of Lecco, Italy, recently hosted the annual XR4Rehab conference, and the Corpus VR team was delighted to be there. The event was a vibrant gathering of brilliant minds, all passionate about the intersection of technology and healthcare.

It was two inspiring days of learning, sharing, and community-building within the steadily growing XR-in-rehabilitation ecosystem. The conference was officially opened with a warm welcome from Marco Sacco and Remco Hoogendijk.

A Leap Forward for Corpus VR

We were incredibly proud to present the latest version of Corpus VR. This year’s highlight: pre-set exercise programs. By offering structured, ready-to-use protocols, therapists can set up sessions faster and with greater efficiency—allowing more time to focus on patient care.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees immediately recognized how this new feature could streamline their practice and make VR therapy more effectively integrated.

CSO – Kiki Coppelmans:

“We are so excited to finally share our new pre-set exercise programs. This feature has been a long time in the making and represents a big step forward in enabling therapists to deliver effective, evidence-based care more efficiently.”

Inspirational Encounters and Community Highlights

Conferences are defined by their people—and XR4Rehab didn’t disappoint.

A special thank you goes to the legendary Albert “Skip” Rizzo for his keynote speech—a compelling journey through the history and progress of VR therapy. Plus, he introduced the fun, fast-paced card game Monopoly Deal, generously gifting his personal copy, which became a highlight of our free time!

We were also deeply impressed by Niki Smit and Eva Maršálková from

. Their award-winning creation, Deep, is more than just an effective tool for breathing therapy: it’s a beautifully designed, calming, immersive experience that demonstrates the profound potential of VR for mental wellness.

Launch of Uptimise

Another exciting moment was the official launch of platform Uptimise (https://uptimise.org) presented by Remco Hoogendijk from the Scale-Up4Rehab team.

Envisioned as the “Netflix for XR health apps,” Uptimise aims to make XR healthcare solutions accessible to everyone. We’re honored that Corpus VR is among the launch applications on the platform, alongside Holomoves. We can’t wait to see how Uptimise grows and supports the XR health ecosystem.

Building the Future Together

The conference concluded with vibrant exchanges and forward-thinking ideas among XR healthcare enthusiasts. These connections drive the industry forward.

Our heartfelt mention goes to Rob Pereira from Pico. As a leading XR hardware manufacturer, Pico has been a steadfast supporter of the XR-in-Health community—providing the robust hardware platform necessary to bring innovative software solutions to life. Collaborating with their team has been invaluable in bridging software innovation with hardware reality.

Our time in Lecco was a powerful reminder that we’re part of a passionate, innovative, and collaborative community. We left energized, inspired, and eager to continue innovating in rehabilitation. Thank you to the XR4Rehab organizers and all attendees who made the event exceptional.

Arrivederci, Lecco! See you next year in Cork, Ireland.
